FAQs

In-Store Experience

How does it work?

Great work – you’ve made it to Dejour! Feel free to have a browse of our different styles and colours. One of our friendly staff members can point you in the right direction if you need help.

You’re welcome to try on as many pairs as you’d like until you find your desired fit. Alterations are not always necessary, but if you want them altered please let our team know and they’ll be happy to assist. We mark the jeans with chalk while they’re on you so that our expert machinists can create the perfect fit.

How long does the process take?

New pairs typically take 1-2 hours. Although, this depends on what alterations you’re getting done and how busy we are.

For re-alterations, we accept two pairs at a time and they’ll be ready the following business day.

Can I make a custom order?

No, we don’t custom make jeans. We alter them to fit you perfectly from our pre-existing stock in store. We also don’t take pre-orders for stock that may be arriving in the future.

How do I avoid the queue?

Our quietest days are mid-week. If you’re coming on a Saturday, come early if you want same-day alterations.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Friday: 9am – 4:30pm

Saturday: 9am – 4pm

Sunday: CLOSED

How much do alterations cost?

They’re free! We offer alterations to any pair of Dejour jeans at no extra cost.  We can alter them in store at time of purchase. We also offer repairs and re-alterations at any point in the future as long as they’re still in good condition.

Re-alts must be freshly washed and dry!

What type of alterations can be done?

The most common alteration that we do is the hem (length). Other options include slimming the entire leg, or just one part of it – ankle, knee, hip, etc. We can also make more complex adjustments like the fit of the waist and crotch. Essentially, while we cannot add any fabric, we can always take some away.

More aesthetic alterations we offer include slits, distressing and custom hems. This can look like rips in the knees, or patches of distressing throughout the leg. There is a limit to the amount we can do (approximately 4 patches per pair). We offer a range of custom hems that you can look at in store (e.g. raw, frayed or cuffed).

How does sizing work / what sizes do you have?

Men’s sizing goes off waist sizing in inches (e.g. 34 inches). We offer AU sizes 28” – 46” across varying styles.

Women’s sizing follows standard AU Women’s sizing (e.g. 12). In most styles, we offer AU sizes 9 – 16. In some styles we also have from a size 4, up to a size 24.

Do I need to make a booking?

Walk-ins only – we don’t accept bookings.

Manufacturing Process

Where are your jeans made?

As of early 2022, our production is based in Vietnam. Prior to this, all of our jeans were made in our Brunswick East warehouse in Melbourne. All of our new stock is made in Vietnam, but we still have some Australian made jeans in store, in limited styles and sizes. Vietnamese owners Madeline and Nam Huynh have been running this incredible business with their family for over thirty years. They are highly skilled at making and fitting jeans and remain central to Dejour to this day.

Unfortunately, COVID drastically impacted our Australian production at every level. Most of our essential Australian suppliers and contractors either closed down or moved overseas. We also lost most of our skilled warehouse machinists and staff. Due to these unavoidable circumstances, we moved everything to a new factory in Vietnam, where our process is exactly the same. We use the same materials and suppliers – owner and designer Nam Huynh plays the same core role, staying completely involved in all operations.

Dejour is always committed to bringing you the highest quality possible, at the lowest price, maintaining our legacy of offering the best value product around. We are still a small, local, family-run business based in Brunswick, Melbourne. We continually offer free on-site alterations to our iconic jeans, out of our little shop at 542 Sydney Road.
